La segunda campa\u00f1a de siegas de carrizo en los humedales del litoral de la Comunidad Valenciana ha llegado a su fin. Desde principios de agosto de 2018 hasta mediados de marzo de 2019 la m\u00e1quina anfibia<\/strong> adquirida por la Fundaci\u00f3n Global Nature para el proyecto LIFE ha trabajando en el Prat de Torreblanca, marjal del Moro, Tancat de la Ratlla (La Albufera) y marjal de Pego-Oliva. Estos trabajos se enmarcan dentro de la Acci\u00f3n C2 del proyecto LIFE Paludicola, denominada \u201cManejo de vegetaci\u00f3n mediante siegas\u201d.<\/p>\n

La primera campa\u00f1a (2018) coincidi\u00f3 con el inicio del proyecto y \u00fanicamente se seg\u00f3 una superficie de 4 ha en el marjal de Pego-Oliva, que equivalen a la retirada de este humedal de 74 t de peso seco y 464 m3<\/sup> de volumen de vegetaci\u00f3n en seco, mayoritariamente carrizo. En la segunda campa\u00f1a (2018-2019) las siegas se han extendido a los cuatro humedales de actuaci\u00f3n de la Comunidad Valenciana y en total se han segado casi 34 ha, que se corresponde con 573 t de peso seco extra\u00eddo y con un volumen de 3583 m3<\/sup> de volumen de vegetaci\u00f3n en seco. En resumen, en el transcurso de las dos campa\u00f1as la m\u00e1quina anfibia ha segado m\u00e1s de 38 ha de superficie en cuatro humedales y casi se han retirado 650 toneladas de carrizo en peso seco.<\/p>\n

Durante estos ocho meses la m\u00e1quina anfibia ha recorrido varios sectores inundados de estos marjales, cortando las ca\u00f1as y abriendo claros para favorecer el h\u00e1bitat del carricer\u00edn cejudo durante los pasos migratorios<\/strong>, pero tambi\u00e9n conservar la presencia de una comunidad de aves diversa y mantener las lagunas en su \u00f3ptimo estado de conservaci\u00f3n. Las siegas de la m\u00e1quina anfibia se centran en las formaciones de vegetaci\u00f3n palustre, principalmente del carrizo Phragmites australis<\/em> que constituye una de las especies de hel\u00f3fitos m\u00e1s densa y que m\u00e1s altura alcanza, de modo que es cortado y posteriormente retirado del humedal.<\/p>\n
