Las acciones del proyecto LIFE Paludicola y de la Fundaci\u00f3n Global Nature no han pasado desapercibidas para muchos gestores de zonas h\u00famedas. En concreto hace un a\u00f1o que visitamos al Director General de Medio Natural del Ayuntamiento de Gand\u00eda, para contarle el proyecto y ver posibilidades de colaboraci\u00f3n en su municipio. Ahora es el municipio el que se pone en contacto con la Fundaci\u00f3n, para proponerle trabajar conjuntamente en su zona h\u00fameda.<\/p>\n

Visita de la primera reuni\u00f3n con el D. G. de Medio Natural del Ayto. de Gand\u00eda<\/p><\/div>\n

La marjal de Gand\u00eda<\/strong> forma parte de una unidad ambiental mayor, conocida como\u00a0marjal de la Safor,<\/strong>\u00a0que con una extensi\u00f3n total de 1.225,34 ha engloba los t\u00e9rminos municipales de Tavernes de la Valldigna, Xeraco, Xeresa y Gand\u00eda.<\/p>\n

En concreto, la marjal de Gand\u00eda ocupa un total de 450 ha, es decir, un 37% de la superficie total del marjal de la Safor. Geomorfol\u00f3gicamente, se trata de una zona h\u00fameda desarrollada en una llanura costera. Presenta poca profundidad debido a la colmataci\u00f3n tanto natural como antr\u00f3pica de las l\u00e1minas de agua.<\/p>\n

El aporte h\u00eddrico de este ecosistema proviene de las aguas subterr\u00e1neas, que afloran en la superficie a trav\u00e9s de manantiales, denominados ullals, fuentes naturales que ponen en contacto los acu\u00edferos con la superficie. Tambi\u00e9n hay que indicar, que las aguas superficiales colaboran en el aporte h\u00eddrico presente a la marjal, pero en menor medida.<\/p>\n

Parte de la marjal de Gand\u00eda est\u00e1 incluida en el Cat\u00e1logo de Zonas H\u00famedas de la Generalitat Valenciana, es zona ZEPA Zona de Especias Protecci\u00f3n para las Aves y por tanto est\u00e1 incluida en la RN 2000.<\/p>\n

En esta marjal de Gand\u00eda se encuentra el Centro Espa\u00f1ol de Humedales (CEHUM)<\/strong>, que fue una iniciativa de la Fundaci\u00f3n Biodiversidad en colaboraci\u00f3n con la Universidad Polit\u00e9cnica de Valencia, la Universidad de Valencia y el Ayuntamiento de Gand\u00eda, que surge de la necesidad de crear un centro de referencia, a nivel nacional e internacional, que permitiera desarrollar acciones para la conservaci\u00f3n sostenible de los humedales espa\u00f1oles.<\/p>\n

Centro Espa\u00f1ol de Humedales (CEHUM)<\/p><\/div>\n

Las cuatro instituciones mencionadas, firmaron, el 17 de diciembre de 2008, un convenio de colaboraci\u00f3n para poner en marcha el Centro, que comenz\u00f3 su andadura en el a\u00f1o 2009. Tras tres a\u00f1os de andadura, el CEHUM cerr\u00f3 sus puertas y ha sido el Ayuntamiento de Gand\u00eda el encargado de su mantenimiento realizando actividades de educaci\u00f3n ambiental. Ahora el ayuntamiento est\u00e1 invirtiendo en su puesta a punto y ha pedido a la Fundaci\u00f3n ideas para recuperar el objetivo con el que se cre\u00f3 y convertirse de nuevo en un centro de referencia en la conservaci\u00f3n de los humedales.<\/p>\n
