Last week, the LIFE Paludicola Project was presented by members of the technical team at the annual meeting of the European Working Group on the Aquatic Warbler (Aquatic Warbler Conservation Team), this year celebrating its 20th anniversary. During these two decades it has contributed, through projects and activities, to the conservation and promotion of the aquatic warbler.
The meeting hosted at Brodowin, Germany, was organised by the LIFE Project “Schreiadler Schorfheide” LIFE10 NAT/DE/000012.
All these studies and projects aim to revert the situation of this endangered species, typically inhabiting lacustrine environments and whose world population is mainly restricted to three countries in eastern Europe: Byelorussia, Poland and Ukraine. Participants in the workshop paid a visit to one of the breeding grounds in Pomerania (Rozwarowo and Krajnik) to learn in situ of the activities conducted there by the LIFE Project.
A presentation was given for the publication “The Aquatic Warbler Conservation Handbook”, in which we took part. The book is a compilation of the experience gained by the AWCT over 20 years, including LIFE projects in which Fundación Global Nature was a player.
