On October 17 and 18, technicians of the LIFE Paludicola project were at the Kick-off Meeting of European Commission LIFE held in Brussels.
The meeting was a launch of the LIFE projects approved in the call of 2016, where the representatives of the European Commission gave presentations about “Introduction: agents of the LIFE program and support team,” “Communication,” “Technical management,” and “Financial management.”
Afterwards, project presentations were given by thematic groups, with LIFE Paludicola belonging to the bird group. You can see the list of approved projects using the following link:

231 Spanish proposals were presented in 2016, with 39 of these being chosen:
- 36 Environment & Resource Efficiency (ENV) projects that observe measures in 5 thematic areas: air, environment y health, resource efficiency, waste, and water.
- 6 Nature & Biodiversity (NAT) projects that support the implementation of the EU Action Plan for nature, people, and the economy, the Birds and Habitats Directives, and the EU Biodiversity Strategy to 2020.
- 1 Environmental Governance & Information (GIE) project that seeks to increase awareness and sensitization of people living in Natura 2000 Network areas.
- 4 Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) projects focused on the agricultural sector and urban adaptation and planning.
- 2 Climate Change Mitigation (CCM) projects consisting of good practices, pilot projects, and demonstrations of agricultural and forestry topics.
Furthermore, 1 project for the Functioning of a European environmental NGO was financed
